Hackers: Leaving programs or declining invitations

Updated over a month ago

Sometimes, you may choose not to join a program or decide to leave after joining. When you leave or decline an invitation, you’ll have the chance to fill out a questionnaire to share your reasons. Learn how to decline invitations or leave a program below.

Declining an Invitation

At HackerOne, we value transparency, which includes sharing why hackers may choose not to engage with certain programs. Your feedback helps programs understand these reasons and make adjustments to become more appealing to hackers.

To decline an invitation:

  1. Go to the program's Security Page

  2. Click Reject invite in the banner at the top

    1. After rejecting the invitation, you'll have the option to fill out a questionnaire on why you've decided to reject the program.

  3. Click Confirm

Leaving a Program

Sometimes, after reviewing a program, you may decide it’s not one you want to join. In that case, you have the option to leave the program.

  1. Go to the program's Security Page

  2. Click the kabob menu (three vertical dots) next to the program name in the sidebar

  3. Click Leave program

    1. After selecting to leave the program, you'll get the option to fill out a questionnaire on why you've decided to leave the program.

  4. Click Confirm

The Feedback Questionnaire

To access the questionnaire, decline the invitation or leave the program, and the questionnaire will appear directly on your screen.

Note: You'll need to complete the questionnaire right away, as it can't be saved to finish later.
