Asset Filtering and Tagging

Organizations: Filter and tag assets in your asset inventory

Updated over a week ago

Asset inventories grow fast. Asset Inventory tagging and filtering support faster operations across large inventories. Tags help teams group assets by internal structure, ownership, environment, or custom taxonomy. Tags group assets for ownership, reporting, scoping, and internal alignment. Filters help teams narrow views to the exact set of assets needed for scoping, reporting, and day-to-day management.

Categories & Tags

Categories and Tags attach structured context to assets. The Asset Inventory comes with built-in categories and tags such as Technology and Region. You may also create custom tag categories and custom tags. Common ways teams use tags:

  • Map assets to a business unit or product line

  • Mark tiering, such as Tier 0, Tier 1, Tier 2

  • Identify the environment, such as Production, Staging

  • Track ownership such as team, cost center, vendor

  1. In the Asset Inventory, click Manage tags

  2. Click Create

  3. Select New Category

  4. Name the category

  5. If you want to enforce that an asset can only have one tag from the category at a time, tick the 'Assets can only have one tag from this category' box.
